Social Media and The Rise of Food Artists in Lahore

With changing trends, so many things have changed from going to college of choice to choosing a profession. People have realized the importance of professional interests and expertise. Youth nowadays is well aware of their priorities. Instead of wasting time to get a degree irrelevant to their interest, youngsters are making smart decisions to excel in their careers. Youth of Pakistan is breaking stereotypes and changing the mindset of people. They have emerged as photographers, travellers, bloggers, volunteers, speakers, poets, standup comedians, inspirational speakers, hikers, mountaineers, bakers and entrepreneurs. They are also good doctors, engineers, lawyers, chemists, physicists, biologists, environmentalists, mathematicians and performing remarkably in their relevant fields.

In recent years, social media helped people to use expertise in a profitable way and connect with customers. Among many other artists and social media inspirations, Chefs are inspiring other people around them. We have chefs with certified degrees and even Pakistan is well known for its cultural diversity; like diversity in mountains, historical buildings and mosques, Pakistan food culture is also diverse. Pakistan has been a center of attraction for tourists from all around the world. Food has been identified as important factor for tourist attraction and Pakistan presents variety of food from spicy Biryani to delicious desserts. And when we talk about Lahore and Lahoris, the first thing which comes into our minds is Food.

With the rise of social media, it has become easier for entrepreneurs to connect to customers and grow their business. Chefs availed this platform from sharing recipes to delivering food to homes. Lahore with diversity of food with cultural diversity hosts tourists not from the Pakistan but from the world. Lahore is famous International tourists. The passions with which young chefs are running their businesses need to be appreciated. We need more schools and colleges for professional learning and promoting the food culture countrywide. We already have professional colleges awarding degrees in culinary arts. When making a choice about careers, our youngsters should not be ashamed or reluctant to choose cooking or baking as a profession because every profession needs same effort and dedication. As Colin Powell said, “A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.”
