Fresh from its Oscar triumph, Skyfall is now being tipped to add yet more gold to its trophy cabinet after picking up six nominations at the Jameson Empire Awards.

The Bond film is in the running for some of the top prizes at the awards – voted for by the readers of the best-selling film magazine – including best film, best British film, best director for Sam Mendes and best thriller.

Stars Daniel Craig and Judi Dench also scored nominations in the best actor and best actress categories.

The nominations come hot on the heels of last weekend’s Oscars, which saw the film pick up the prizes for best original song for Adele’s theme, as well as tying with Zero Dark Thirty for the best sound effects editing gong.

Acting winners Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway are also in the running for awards, although for different films to the ones they won their Oscars for.

Les Miserables star Hathaway is up for best actress for her role as Selina Kyle in The Dark Knight Rises, while Lawrence will compete in the same category for The Hunger Games.

The pair will face competition from fellow Oscar nominees Naomi Watts and Jessica Chastain, who have been shortlisted for The Impossible and Zero Dark Thirty – the roles than won them their Academy Award recognition.

Craig, meanwhile, will compete in the best actor category against Oscar winners Daniel Day-Lewis for Lincoln and Christoph Waltz for Django Unchained – while Avengers Assemble’s Robert Downey Jr and The Hobbit’s Martin Freeman complete the shortlist.

Both The Hobbit and Avengers Assemble have picked up five nominations, including best film, and will also compete against each other in a string of categories including best director, best 3D movie and best science-fiction/fantasy.

Other nominees include British black comedy Sightseers, which is up for four awards including best horror and best British film.

Meanwhile Django Unchained and The Dark Knight Rises have three nominations each – with both recognised in the best film category as well as best director for their respective helmers Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan.

The awards will be handed out in a star-packed ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on March 24.
