Abu Dhabi – A proposal submitted by a Federal National Council (FNC) member for giving government department employees a 10-day holiday during the last 10 days of the holy month of Ramadan will be referred to the bodies concerned.

According to Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, the authority will review the proposal in light of “all relevant factors”.

FNC member Mousabbah Saeed Al Kitbi submitted the proposal to enable government employees to perform I’tikaf (the act of spending a period of time in mosques for extensive worship).

The minister said the views of all the parties concerned will be taken into account before a decision is taken as it will affect both the public and private sectors.

In his proposal, Al Kitbi pointed out that many government employees want to devote themselves to acts of worship during the last 10 days of Ramadan. .. see more
