Postal income rises by 20pc

KABUL: Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology (MoTIT) said that postal income was increase by 20 percent this year.
Acting Director of Afghan Post Directorate addressing commemoration of Post International Day here on Tuesday said that postal revenue reached to over 67 million Afs in the past six month, while this figure was 54.7 million last year.
He termed reformation, modernization and expanding of postal services with modern technologies main factor behind the progress.
In order to boost up this service, Afghan Post Directorate in joint venture with Kabul Municipality recently established some postal codes in Kabul to make further simple delivery of packages. However, construction of illegal houses is a big problem for postal staff when they go for delivering packages in Kabul and other provinces throughout the country.
Currently, Afghan Post Directorate has active branches with 35000 post boxes in different district of 34 provinces, he said.
Representative of TNT, a private postal company, termed lack of numbers, incorrect or missing of street and house addresses, over the streets, houses and buildings big challenge faced by postal companies’ staff. He asked authorities concerned to make sure that every street and house had number.
