ACCORDING to fresh reports, the date for the biggest boxing bout in recent history has finally been agreed upon.

The Telegraph reported that Manny Pacquaio and Floyd Mayweather Jnr have agreed to take to the ring in May this year, in a match set to be worth AU$320 million — the richest in boxing history — at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

“A source close to the Filipino boxer [Pacquaio] and congressman revealed to The Sunday Telegraph that Pacquiao completed his contractual agreements on Saturday and that Mayweather is set to sign,” The Telegraph’s Gareth A. Davies said.

“Manny has 100 per cent signed his side of the deal,” the source reportedly said.
“It is now over to Mayweather to close the deal and announce the fight.”
The newspaper said Mayweather may confirm reports of the May 2nd fight during the NBA All-Star weekend.

The two champion boxers have been in official (and unofficial) discussions about the potential of a fight this year, but haven’t been able to reach an agreement. That is until now, if these reports are to be believed.
