Marriage Vows

It is a socially and/or spiritually recognized union or legal contract between spouses that establishes rights and obligations among them as well as  their children  and their in-laws.  The definition varies according to different cultures.  It can be recognized by a state, an organization, a religious authority, a tribal group, a local community or peers.

People marry for many reasons such as: legal, social, libidinal, emotional, financial, spiritual and religious.  Who they marry may be influenced by socially determined rules of incest, prescriptive marriage rules, parental choice and individual desire.  In many parts of the country, marriages are arranged.

“To have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer,

in sickness and in health,

to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part.”

Whatever the reason of getting married, we should not forget that we should get married because of love. It is a lifetime commitment.

To get married is to build a happy and healthy family; a family with father, mother, and children.  The word Family is a big word.  Easy to say and spell, but if we have to look behind that and within that, is a sorrowful, mystical and surprising responsibility filled with love and happiness which makes it more meaningful to life.

Nowadays, it’s sad to say that we see broken families and homeless children.  Whatever the reason behind this situation, couples are still bound to fulfil their responsibilities and obligations to their children; to provide their basic needs, to educate them, and to love and support them.

Each of us in this world desires a happy and healthy family and to fullfil our vows.  Whatever the situation lies today, we still got the chance to make it and to build a strong foundation which is LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER.
