Filipino boxing star Manny Pacquiao is set to travel to the US in the next few days to confer with his promoter Bob Arum on his next fight as well as a possible judging stint at the Miss Universe beauty pageant in Florida on January 25.
Arum has downplayed Pacquiao’s possible clash with Floyd Mayweather in early 2015, referring to the latter’s earlier announcement that he wants to face Pacquiao on May 2. Arum opposed the fight date set by Mayweather and suggested that the fight be held in June.
“The only thing we’re planning with Pacquiao (early in 2015) is that he’s going to be a judge at one of these beauty contests – Miss World or Miss Universe, the one in Miami, in January,” said Arum, who is setting up a fight between Mexican Canelo Alvarez and Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico on the date mentioned by Mayweather, which coincides with Cinco de Mayo, Mexican Independence day celebration.
Miss Universe officials have yet to officially confirm Pacquiao’s appointment as one of the judges to the pageant which will be held in Miami, Florida.
