Smashing the Guinness World Record for the largest packaged food mosaic consisting of 79,300 packs of food, the unusual creation was masterminded at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre, recently — with the a total of the food packets totalling Dh107,480.

And in true charitable UAE style, the packaged foods were later donated to the Emirates Red Crescent Society.

Measuring 24.7m in length and 38.6m in width, the mosaic consisted of packs of food that were put together by 149 employees from Sharp Middle East and Africa (SMEF).

“We always look for opportunities to improve our customers’ lives; for their home and business, for the environment and society, and we provide solutions with the user in mind, with simple human benefits,” said general manager for Business Operations at SMEF Zahid Rahman.

Commenting on the achievement, Emirates Red Crescent Society manager for the Dubai branch Mohammed Abdullah Alhaj Al Zaroni, said: “We are extremely grateful to Sharp for their donation as contributions of this scale is what makes a real difference to our ongoing efforts to help those in need within the UAE.”

The food mosaic depicts Sharp’s diverse range of consumer and business electronics products and captures a number of different aspects. The Guinness World Records title was previously held in Hong Kong, China where a packaged food mosaic measuring 20.7m in length and 30.9m in width was created in 2009.
