Katy Perry raised plenty of eyebrows as she opened up the ceremony at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles with a culturally insensitive, Japanese-themed performance ofUnconditionally, which featured the singer dressed as a Geisha. Within minutes, fans and viewers were accusing her of cultural appropriation with one Twitter user commenting “This is the performance equivalent of an offensive Halloween costume.”
