KABUL: President Hamid Karzai congratulated Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his election as the new Turkish president, said a statement issued by the presidential palace.
President Karzai in a letter sent to Erdogan congratulated him on behalf of the people of Afghanistan. President Karzai also extended his best wishes to Erdogan and people of Turkey.
President Karzai said that Turkey witnessed tremendous achievements under wise leadership of Erdogan as prime minister.
The president assured Turkey that Kabul would spare no efforts to further enhance relations between the two friendly nations.
After talking more than 50 percent of the votes, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey’s prime minister, won the country’s first presidential elections in the first round.
