Future of a Pandemic

COVID-19 is the most eccentric situation which has brought the global economy into chaos. It has shown that humans in their most advanced century with the powers of highly efficient laboratories and artificial intelligence, are unable to rectify a micrometer biological entity, called as a virus. It has not only affected nations but also dug its root into interpersonal and intrapersonal conflicts. The nations in their supreme sovereignty has shown courageous moves, to save the lives of their citizens at the expense of their economies.

it has been observed that all the major fatalities are recorded mostly in the developed countries. According to Worldometer.info, major cases along with fatalities are reported in North American and European region. These are the regions where human beings are blessed with most of the necessities.  In the past poverty, diseases and deaths have been associated to developing countries but this COVID-19 has shown a different angle of picture. This is all about the immunity, which develops as per exposure to external agents. In short, one can say your vulnerability is your immunity. At least this is true for situation of COVID- 19.

One can extrapolate that virus is a worse enemy of mankind. But the question arises who is the enemy of virus? It is the immune system of a living creature that can kill virus. Whenever a virus, bacteria or any antigen enters in the body, it activates the force of antibodies to counter against the antigen. Normally, when an antigen is known to body, it knows right kind of antibody to activate. For example, in a general case of flu, one can sustain it in two or three days even without any external medication. But when virus is novel and general immune system of a body cannot recognize its power to counter against it, then immunity fails which eventually result into death. The number of deaths is increasing day by day. The people who became prey of this virus are mostly old or vital organs diseased patients; with low immunity. The immunity against corona virus can be developed through inoculation of its less virulent form in the body, so that the body can make enough and right antibodies against it.

Now the humanity is crying for solution, yet the echo come back and crave for humans’ effort in preparation of vaccine. There are various teams in the world working on it and clinical trials are going on. There is only tint of hope that which vaccine is going to nip this evil in the bud? And whether that vaccine is going to be a long-term remedy or short-term solution. History has witnessed such solutions in the case of poliomyelitis and Asian Flu, as stated in the book “Smallest enemy of mankind: the mysterious virus”. The technology has progressed a lot in the journey of decades. Now we cannot compromise on momentary and ineffective solutions. We are better from our history and this can only be shown through effective remedy and efficient policies. In anyway, it does not matter from which part you belong, either you are in the marathon of capitalism or work under communism. The technical solution to this problem is a virus in its less virulent form. Let’s become hopeful and see that future of a pandemic is surely dark.
