Gal Gadot has won the role of Wonder Woman in director Zach Snyder’s upcoming “Man of Steel” sequel — “Batman vs. Superman”.
Best known for playing Gisele in three of the six “Fast and Furious” films, the 28-year-old actress will join the title role players Henry Cavill, who will reprise his role as Superman, and Ben Affleck, who will suit up as the Dark Knight in the latest movie to feature DC Comics characters.
After representing Israel in the 2004 Miss Universe pageant, Gadot served two years in the Israeli Army as a sports trainer in the Israel Defense Forces. According to theHollywood Reporter, she was chosen to play Wonder Woman over Olga Kurylenko (“Oblivion”) and Elodie Yung (“G.I. Joe: Retaliation”).
“Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character,” Snyder said.
“Batman vs. Superman” will mark the big screen debut of the superheroine popularized by Lynda Carter in the 1970s TV series. Two years ago, “Friday Night Lights” star Adrianne Palicki portrayed Wonder Woman in a failed TV pilot created by David E. Kelley.
Variety reported that another DC protagonist, The Flash, will also be in the “Man of Steel” sequel which is set for release in July 2015.
