ABU DHABI // Etihad Airways will honour the heavily discounted tickets it mistakenly issued on Christmas Day morning.
The UAE flag-carrier issued an undisclosed number of tickets for prices that ranged as low as US$187 for flights between New York and Abu Dhabi.
With connecting flights to destinations such as Johannesburg and Manila, some airfares were as low as US$277.
Etihad spokeswoman Katie Connell said the airline will honour the mistaken fare prices.
“A system filing issue caused ticket prices for a promotion in the USA to be temporarily listed incorrectly,” Connell said. “The issue has since been rectified.”
Etihad did not share the numbers of tickets that were issued at the reduced levels, which were promoted on sites including TheFlightDeal, Expedia and Kayak.com.
