Spectacular show of light, colour and story telling was the hallmark of the official 42 UAE National Day celebrations at the Burj Park at Downtown Burj Dubai this evening.

Thousands of people – both nationals and expatriates  – had flocked to the location to witness what can be easily termed as the culmination of the celebrations that started off with the announcement of the Expo 2020.

Among the dignitaries present were the Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The two-hour long programme titled, “The Happiest Nation,” narrated the story of a nation as it evolved from its humble beginnings and emphasized on the grand progress made during the past decades.

Rich tributes were paid to leaders who guided the country as it continues to march on towards achieving momentous growth both within the region and the rest of the world.

The programme concluded with a dazzling display of fireworks, clubbed with the roaring sound of the Dubai Fountain.

Burj Khalifa was completely lit with the colours of the UAE National Flag. The whole downtown area bore a festive look as both children and adults had dressed in colourful attire, displaying the rich cultural heritage and the unity and oneness of a proud nation.

The National Day Souq at the Burj Plaza hardly had place for the visitors to stand.

People had started gathering in the area quite early in the day to witness various activities and programmes. Earlier during the day the National Day parade was held at the Mohammad Bin Rashid Boulevard.
