Django Unchained and Ted top the list of nominees at this year’s MTV Movie Awards.
Both films received seven nods, while actress Jennifer Lawrence got five including best female performance for her role in Silver Linings Playbook.
She is also up for best kiss, best on-screen duo and best musical moment along with co-star Bradley Cooper.
Seth MacFarlane, who hosted last month’s Oscars, is up for four awards including best shirtless performance.
The awards will be hosted by Pitch Perfect and Bridesmaids actress Rebel Wilson, with winners receiving golden popcorn trophies. She is nominated for breakthrough performance.
Best kiss
Other categories include best villain, which sees Leonardo DiCaprio as Django Unchained’s Calvin Candie up against Tom Hardy and Marion Cotillard from The Dark Knight Rises and Javier Bardem for his Skyfall baddie.
Rather than just celebrating films that are critically acclaimed, the awards recognise big box office films and those that may have been overlooked at the Oscars.
The Dark Knight Rises, the final instalment in Christopher Nolan’s Batman franchise, got five nods including movie of the year – despite not receiving any Oscar nominations.
Another teen hit, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, has been nominated best kiss and breakthrough performance for Ezra Miller, who is also known for his role in We Need to Talk About Kevin.
His co-star Emma Watson, who is nominated in the best female performance category, tweeted: “Perks is nominated for four awards at the 2013 MTV movie awards! :)”
Terrifying moments
Twilight, which has dominated the awards in previous years, only picked up one nomination for Taylor Lautner’s shirtless performance.
Another Jennifer Lawrence film, The Hunger Games, topped last year’s nominations and she picked up an award for her role.
The best scared-ss-s**t performance category is a new addition this year, recognising roles that had terrifying moments.
Jennifer Lawrence from horror movie House at the End of the Street competes against Jessica Chastain in Zero Dark Thirty, Alexandra Daddario in Texas Chainsaw 3D, Martin Freeman in The Hobbit and Suraj Sharma in Life of Pi.
The ceremony takes place on 14 April.
