The Afghan National Football Team will face Kyrgyzstan in a friendly match on Sunday April 13 in Dubai.
This friendly match is amid preparation for the 2014 AFC Challenge Cup beginning on May 19 in the Maldives.
The Afghan football team has trained and held several competitions in Kabul before Sunday’s match giving them enough time to practice for Sunday’s match.
Coach Mohammad Yousef Kargar said the game will offer him the opportunity to evaluate the country’s top players and select who will play in the 2014 AFC Challenge Cup.
“We are holding this match to prepare the boys better,” Kargar said. “The match was requested by the Kyrgyzstan Football Federation in Dubai.”
Kargar also added that they have a friendly match against Tajikstan in Dushanbe. He said this will help him select the 23 talented bodies for the Challenge Cup that is a month away.
The match will kick-off at about 06:20 p.m. Kabul time and 05:50 p.m. in Dubai. TOLO and Lamer TV will be broadcast the match live.
This is not Afghanistan’s first time facing Kyrgyzstan. They played back in 2003 and 2008 with Afghanistan winning both matches.
The 2014 AFC Challenge Cup will be held in the Maldives from May 19 to May 30. The winners will earn a seat in the 2015 AFC Asian Cup.
