Sulaiman, a ten-year-old boy, was rescued by the Kabul police long before sunrise on Tuesday after being abducted for 12 days.
According to initial reports, the mastermind behind the abduction is an individual named Mohammad Ariz who lives in Kabul in an area known as Chahar Qala Wazir Abad was assisted by four other kidnappers.
The report states that Ariz had shot Sulaiman’s driver, who were on their way to school in Qalai Fatullah on August 6.
After shooting the driver and grabbing the child, the kidnappers called the child’s family demanding a $1 million ransom.
Confessing to his crime, Ariz revealed the names of his accomplices adding that they had kept the boy in a house in Rubat town of Bagram district in Parwan province.
The confession led the police to four kidnappers who held Sulaiman captive. The police arrested three of the four kidnappers. However the fourth kidnapper along with the child ran into another house, but later that day the police were able to arrest him and rescue the boy.
“They [kidnappers] were asking me about my father’s job and how much money has and makes,” a nervous and traumatized Sulaiman said minutes after his rescue. “They wanted to know where he keeps his money.”
Meanwhile, Kabul Police Chief Gen. Zahir Zahir expressed satisfaction over the successful police operation.

During the rescue mission, two police officers were injured, but disregarding their injury was happy because of their successful save of Sulaiman.
