The 22-ton bridge stolen from Kocaeli’s Gölçük district Turkey; it was regularly used by villagers to cross a creek to reach their orchards on the other side of the village. On Monday morning the villagers were astonished not to find the regular bridge on which they crossed to the other side. They immediately alerted the police.
Police arrived at the scene and determined that the bridge had been cut apart and loaded onto a truck by the thieves. The Police believe the bridge was stolen for scrap metal. It’s worth was an estimated TL 20,000.
By the time a new bridge is constructed the villagers must wad their way to their orchards.
