The Spice Girls are set to reunite for a performance at the Olympic Games closing ceremony after pictures emerged of them rehearsing for the concert.

Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Mel C and Emma Bunton were pictured going through their routine during a practice session for the event on Sunday.

The five members of the girl band were seen on podiums on top of a five black cabs. The images confirm long reported rumours that the Spice Girls would get together again for the closing ceremony.

The Sun pictured a number of British music’s biggest names in rehearsals at the Ford car plant in Dagenham, east London.

They included Queen guitarist Brian May, Pet Shop Boys, Jessie J, Annie Lennox, George Michael and Tinie Tempah.

The musical director of the closing ceremony, David Arnold, says the event will reflect the nation as a whole. The show will be based around 30 British music classics.

Among the other acts rumoured to be taking the stage are Take That, although it is unclear if Gary Barlow will appear after his daughter Poppy was stillborn.

The closing ceremony is reported to include models of London landmarks such as St Paul’s Cathedral and Tower Bridge.

Arnold said: ‘We’re trying to have moments where someone from the Cotswolds watching it on TV and someone from a tower block overlooking it in the East End will be able to find something in it of which they can say, “That’s us, really that’s Britain”.’
