We watched our streets turn from stone to blood
We watched our friends turn from love to fear
The skies they blackened with long nights of endless screaming
The trees they crept around in the background beckoning
Take my hand and take it now
The conversation has to disappear
Let the words remain just thoughts in your head
As we run from the damages and wreckage of our lives
Light and sound and don’t forget sight
All but dismiss the ricochet around our truth
We watched our streets turn from stone to blood
We watched our friends turn from love to fear
The skies they blackened with long nights of endless screaming
The trees they crept around in the background beckoning
Take me heart and take it now
The love you have has to be flung away
Let the pieces remain just hollow and empty in your chest
As we run from the carnage and knowledge of our lives
Dark and silence and don’t forget song
All but forget the vicious circles that surround our truth
We watched our streets turn from stone to blood
We watched our friends turn from love to fear
The skies they blackened with long nights of endless screaming
The trees they crept around in the background beckoning
Take my body and take it now
The thoughts you have just have to be buried so deep
Let the violin man play his sorrowful song
As we run together from the scarred images of hostages
I’ll stay here so you can go
All of me for all of you just go, I give it all to you
My heart, my hands, my courage
Just go now, while you can.
