The Russian national squad has moved up to ninth place in the FIFA rankings, landing back in the top ten for the first time since October 2010.
The team, led by coach Fabio Capello, rose three ranks from its standing last month.
This success is the result of their World Cup 2014 qualifying matches, where Russia has so far won all four of its Group F games.
After winning against Northern Ireland and Israel in September, Russia added two more 1-0 victories over Portugal and Azerbaijan in October. Russia has yet to concede a goal in any of its games.
Spain and Germany remain unchallenged at the top of the rankings, while the third-ranked Portugal has been replaced by Argentina, now in second.
Italy moved up three positions after wins against Armenia and Denmark in Group B. Croatia is ranked tenth after climbing one position.
Remember, FIFA announces the World Rankings on a monthly basis.
