Referee Saad Al Fadhli has hit the headlines this week after punching, kicking and then sending off at least two players in a league match – after he had awarded a dodgy penalty.
The madness descended during Al Arabi’s 4-1 win over Al Naser in the Kuwaiti Premier League, with Al Fadhli starting a chain reaction by awarding Al Arabi an early penalty.
The call looked harsh – and furious Al Naser players agreed, promptly storming over to Al Fadhli and pushing and shoving him over his decision.
The referee was not going to take it though.
He first lashed out at a player, striking him in the face and knocking him to the floor, before kicking another who tried to grab him.
Match officials and Al Arabi players kept Al Fadhli away from the brawling players, before the ref dished out a series of red cards.
Matters eventually cooled down, but the official continued to see red – sending off two substitutes and a coach from the Al Naser bench later in the game.
