The historic resolution, known as the Pakistan Resolution, was approved on March 23, 1940.

President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif besides the chiefs of the three armed forces were also present at the flag hoisting ceremony by the President on this occasion.

An investiture ceremony is being held at the Presidency, in which the President conferring awards on prominent personalities from various walks of life.

Sindh Governor, Ishratul Ebad khan and the Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah visited the Mazar-e-Quaid to pay tributes to the founder of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and offered ‘Fateha’ in Karachi, while an impressive ceremony of change of guards at the Mazar-e-Iqbal was held in Lahore.

Earlier, the day dawned with special prayers for progress and prosperity of the country and with a 31 gun-salute in the federal capital as well as 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals.

The national flags being hoisted on important public and private buildings across the country and all Pakistani missions abroad.
