MEDIA are already pitched outside London’s St Mary’s Hospital waiting for word that the Duchess of Cambridge has gone into labour.
There has been no sight of the expectant royal since her last public appearance on June 15, but photographers and TV crews from around the world are leaving nothing to chance.
The royal baby will become the heir to the throne.
Though the official due date is next Saturday, there is speculation that the baby is due earlier. There were claims that Princess Diana fooled the world’s media when Prince William was born 10 days before his announced due date.
Some of the journalists have started a sweepstakes on a wall near St Mary’s.
The baby will be delivered in the hospital’s exclusive Lindo wing.
British bookies are taking bets on everything from the gender of the baby to its hair colour, eye colour and name.
Paddy Power bookmakers claims that Alexandra or Charlotte are popular bets, though the editor of Majesty Magazine, Ingrid Seward, believes Kate and William will choose very traditional names.
Whatever name they choose, it may not end up being the one the child will use as monarch because they can choose another. The Queen’s father, Prince Albert, became King George VI.
