(NEWSER) – A judge has given a New York City woman permission to file for divorce from her elusive husband via Facebook. Victor Sena Blood-Dzraku will be served with the divorce summons via a private Facebook message, New York Daily News, which will be repeated once a week for three consecutive weeks or until “acknowledged” by Ellanora Baidoo’s hard-to-find husband. The ruling, reportedly made by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Matthew Cooper, says Blood-Dzraku has been in touch with his wife only via phone and Facebook.
Baidoo’s attorney, Andrew Spinnell, says the couple married in 2009 in a civil ceremony and that the relationship began to unravel when the defendant reneged on his promise to a traditional Ghanaian wedding ceremony as well. The marriage wasn’t consummated and the couple never lived together, Spinnell tells the Daily News, but Blood-Dzraku still apparently doesn’t want to sever marital ties. The ruling came about because no one could dig up a mailing or billing address or even a DMV record for him, the Daily News notes. “We tried everything, including hiring a private detective—and nothing,” Spinnell tells the paper.
