Government refers to the particular group of people, who control a state at a given time, and the manner in which their governing organizations are structured. That is, governments are the means through which state power is employed. Its main purpose is to improve or maintain the wellness of the countries all over the world. That is why it is very important; especially it provides every individual an orderly, peaceful, healthy and wealthy life. The government has three duties on its territory. First, it must protect the nation it holds. It must protect the people, places, wealth, etc. from danger. Secondly, it must preserve peace with in its boundaries. And lastly, it must ensure that every family unit of nation has place for a home and means of livelihood. In order to perform these three duties, it must have a specialized and privilege body of individuals who monopolize political decision-making. It also enforces existing laws, legislate new ones and arbitrates conflicts.

Governance is the manner in which power is exercised in the management of a Country’s economic and social resources for development”In another definition, the variety of perspective governance brings to a country or nation is defined as:” The traditions and institutions by which authority in a country is exercised. This includes the process by which governments are selected, monitored and replaced; the capacity of the government to effectively formulate and implement sound policies; and the respect of citizens and the state for the institutions that govern economic and social interactions among them.” In another definition by World Bank it is defined as:“Governance is a simple concept at heart: good governance is good government. The concept is related to the quality of the relationship between government and the citizens whom it exists to serve and protect”. Good governance have gotten immense significance in our country as the difficulties of dishonesty and incompetence crawl in the internal formation of our state. Territory cannot prosper in the deficiency of good governance. It is sold for this stage of our homeland. Without the incident of good governance, no country can play an essential function in this planet. It is viewed as the essence of a homeland. Supremacy is very relevant in every subject of life, if it is dwelling or office, good governance is yearning to present in consequence. It gives strong cornerstone for the developmental method.

Good Governance does not occur by chance. It cannot be introduced overnight. The process is often, a gradual one involving changes to long standing, practices, entrenched interests and cultural habits and social and even religious norms. Recently President of USA Mr. Barack Obama has said that what Africa required for development are not strong men but strong institutions and good governance. The prosperity of an economy depends upon the social, economic and sustainable development. It is nevertheless admitted that good governance is one that encompasses a whole range of social, political and economic activities and cannot be confined to economic aspects alone. For Good Governance it is necessary that people who are well educated and pursuing good character should be selected in elections, since the main objectives of such kind of persons are firstly to administer and Govern and secondly, to serve and benefit both the citizens and the country in the best possible manner.

From the above discussion it has been cleared that the ideal of good governance is difficult to achieve in its totality. Only a few nations have come nearer to achieving Good Governance in its totality. Therefore we will have to change our mindset and take a much larger interest for our country by participation in the governance of country. According to Mr.  A.P.J. Abdul Kalam – “Nation first and then the individual”.
