Captain America: The Winter Soldier has premiered its first trailer, seeing Chris Evans’ superhero unite with Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and new ally Falcon.

Evans plays Steve Rogers in the action movie, a US soldier from the 1940s who is thawed out to fight crime in the 21st century.

The Avengers actors is joined by Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L Jackson who both reprise their Marvel roles for the film, while Robert Redford is a new addition as the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. Alexander Pierce.

The crime-fighting organisation is set to feature heavily in the film, with reports earlier this week suggesting The Winter Soldier will also be referenced in the S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series, which is currently mid-broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK.

Sebastian Stan, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp and Hayley Atwell will also feature in the movie, along with Anthony Mackie who plays Falcon – a new ally who will help Captain America fight ‘a powerful yet shadowy enemy’.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits US cinemas on April 4 and arrives in the UK on May 2.
